Situated on Staffelsee is the town of Murnau, considered to be central to Expressionism. It is here that Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter spent much of their time and founded a group of like-minded artists called “Der Blaue Reiter”. The Münter-Haus and Schlossmuseum offer an attractive destination for those interested in art and a leisurely stroll along the town’s streets will reveal many of the inspirations that the artists captured on canvas.
